CLIMATE JUSTICE INITIATIVE FOR DIVERSE EMERGING FUND MANAGERS

Our Climate Justice Initiative focused on sourcing, selecting, and providing $100K in capital to ten diverse-led funds with climate change solutions in their strategies.

Marginalized communities that too often bear the negative impacts of climate change are also uniquely positioned to identify and scale solutions. Despite the potential, people of color remain significantly underrepresented among fund managers deploying climate-tech capital.

Backed by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, VC Include’s Climate Justice Initiative provided capital to historically underrepresented emerging managers in Private Equity, Venture Capital, Impact, and Public Market funds raising their first, second, or third fund.

The private and public market funds selected to receive $100,000 to further their commitments to reversing climate change are as follows:

“While the climate justice movement has been around for decades, it has really begun to receive institutional attention in the last ten years. Our goal through the Climate Justice Initiative is to demonstrate that climate funds led by people of color lead to concrete climate benefits, diverse green business ownership, and leadership and workforce opportunities in climate-impacted Black and Brown communities. We have full faith that the funds we have chosen will have these intended impacts.”
